When it comes to creating a home, every detail matters—from the colour of the walls to the texture of the flooring. At The Towns, we wanted to ensure that the process of selecting these details was as seamless and enjoyable as possible. To get an inside look at the design inspiration behind the interior selection palettes, we asked our lead Interior Designer, Tricha Hamstra, who curated these options, about her approach to creating a harmonious and flexible design experience for homebuyers.
The Vision Behind the Palettes
Q: What was the primary goal in designing the interior selection palettes for The Towns?
“The main goal was to create a range of palettes that would make the decision-making process easy and enjoyable. We wanted homebuyers to feel confident in their choices, knowing that each option within the palettes works harmoniously together. It was important to offer a “foolproof” selection, where any combination a buyer chooses would have that designer-approved look.”
Flexibility with Personalization
Q: How did you balance providing amble choice with keeping the process manageable for buyers?
“It was crucial to strike a balance between offering enough variety for personalization and ensuring the process didn’t become overwhelming. We’ve developed four distinct palettes—two standard and two upgraded—that buyers can mix and match. This structure allows buyers to save where it makes sense and splurge where they want to add a touch of luxury. The idea was to provide enough flexibility to make the home feel unique while still offering guidance to make the selections process straightforward.”
The “Love It or Customize It” Approach
Q: With townhomes generally offering fewer customization options, how does The Towns provide buyers with the opportunity to personalize their space?
“While its true that townhomes often have fewer customization options compared to single-family homes, we wanted to ensure that buyers could still make their space feel like their own. That’s where our “Love It or Customize It” program comes in to play. Even though there are fewer structural customizations available, buyers can still personalize their space through the mix-and-match capabilities of our palettes. It’s about offering flexibility within a framework, so homeowners can infuse their style into their home without feeling limited.”
A Streamlined Yet Flexible Experience
Q: What challenges did you face in creating these palettes, and how did you overcome them?
“The biggest challenge was ensuring that the palettes offered enough variety to cater to different tastes without overwhelming buyers with too many options. We carefully selected colours and materials that not only complement each other within each palette, but also across different palettes. This way, homeowners can mix elements from different palettes confidently, knowing they will work together beautifully. It’s a streamlined process designed to make the experience both flexible and manageable.”
Final Thoughts
Q: What do you hope homebuyers can take away from the design process at The Towns?
“I hope that homebuyers feel empowered and excited about the design process. Our goal was to create palettes that make it easy for anyone to achieve a cohesive, stylish look without the stress. Whether they’re choosing from the standard options or opting for upgrades, they can trust that every combination will result in a space that feels beautifully designed and uniquely theirs.”
